Two individuals are now facing charges following a luggage theft where a believed to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after getting out of a car park lift, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
