The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank
Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "they cannot be real Spurs supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th Premier League at home defeat of 2025.
However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario lost possession well outside his box.
He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.
But, rather than booting it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at 36.6 metres.
Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.
The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.
A particular of those jeering episodes really angered the manager.
"I heard some of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period performance.
Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "completely avoidable".
"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He's a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the winning score."
Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match
Italian international the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.
He said after the match that he had to take the feedback.
"That score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he said.
"The intent was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."
He stated being booed "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on the team to remain more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it is tough to accept."
Despite Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.
Actually it was the second most distant top division score of the season – following Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.
10 moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," he said.
"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.
"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct contact and place it on target. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was heading in."
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.
The match was their tenth home defeat of the year in the league, a shared team record matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
They still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to come before the close of the season.
Just a single of those victories have occurred since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.
"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to go against you too – the first was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic.
"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a unique story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."
Spurs have lost 4 straight at home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their lowest averages on record in a single campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Former Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
