The Former President's Actions Constitute a Danger to Our Social Fabric.

His internal and external policies – from the challenge to the democratic process previously to current moves and warnings – erode both domestic and international legal frameworks. The implications are broader.

These actions jeopardize the fundamental meaning of what we mean by.

A ethical foundation of civilized society is to forestall the stronger from attacking and exploiting the vulnerable. Otherwise, we risk being trapped in a conflict of all against all where only the fittest prevails.

This ideal is embedded of the Declaration and Constitution. This is also the core of the modern framework of international relations supported by the United States, built on collective action, popular sovereignty, fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.

But, it is a delicate construct, easily violated by those who seek to abuse their authority. Upholding it requires that the those in charge have a sense of duty to refrain from seeking short-term wins, and that the rest of us ensure they answer for their actions if they don't.

Unfettered might does not equal right. It makes for turmoil, upheaval, and conflict.

Each instance people or corporations or countries that are richer and more powerful attack and exploit those that are less so, the structure of civilization frays. If such aggression are not contained, the fabric unravels. Without intervention, the world can plunge into instability and violence. It has happened before.

We now inhabit a global community with deepening divides. Influence and wealth are increasingly centralized than in recent memory. This invites the powerful to take advantage of the weaker because they act with a sense of omnipotent.

The wealth of a small group of tycoons is almost beyond comprehension. The power of global industrial giants covers numerous countries. Artificial intelligence is likely to centralize economic and political clout to a greater degree. The military might of the major powers is without parallel in the annals of time.

Enabled by complicit legislators and a pliant high court, the highest office has been made into the most dominant and unchecked instrument of the state in recent memory.

Put it all together and you perceive the threat.

A clear connection connects previous breaches of norms to present-day threats. Both were premised on the arrogance of omnipotence.

There is a similar pattern in other global contexts: in military conflicts, in strategic threats, and in the rampant monopolization by industrial titans.

Yet, raw power does not create right. It makes for instability, upended order, and armed conflict.

History shows that laws and norms to limit the powerful also protect them. Without such constraints, their insatiable demands for greater influence and riches eventually lead to their downfall – along with their corporations, nations, or empires. And pave the way for global conflict.

This blatant lawlessness will haunt the nation and the world – and indeed civilization – for the foreseeable future.
