Air travel have resumed at Edinburgh Airport after a significant technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.
Every arrival and departure were stopped after an IT issue that was reported at approximately 08:30.
A number of travelers were left waiting in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.
A statement indicated at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".
Nonetheless, ongoing issues are expected to affect schedules. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others experiencing delays.
A spokesperson had previously estimated that a significant number of movements could be affected.
"Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date details on their individual travel plans," officials reiterated.
The airport attributed the full ground stop to an systems failure with its control tower systems vendor.
Travelers should still plan to verify the schedule of their flight before heading to the hub as backlogs are worked through.
