A review has identified that nearly 90 aircraft journeys linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein reportedly touched down at and left British airfields, with some reportedly transporting women from the UK who allege they were victimized by the convicted sex offender.
The travel manifests were part of thousands of court documents and papers released by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been made public over the last year. The analysis found 87 flights tied to Epstein â encompassing many that were hitherto undisclosed â coming into or leaving from UK airports between the early 1990s and 2018.
Unidentified female passengers were documented among the individuals travelling into and out of the UK. Significantly, 15 of these British airport journeys occurred after Epsteinâs 2008 conviction for procuring prostitution from a child.
âIt was âastonishingâ that there had never been a âfull-scale UK investigationâ into his operations in the country,â stated American attorneys acting for numerous Epstein survivors.
A statement from one of the UK-based survivors was instrumental in convicting Epsteinâs accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. Yet, that individual has not been approached by UK authorities, as stated by her attorney based in Florida.
In a statement, the Metropolitan police indicated they had ânot received any new evidence that would support restarting the inquiry.â They commented, âShould fresh and pertinent information be brought to our attention, encompassing any arising from the release of documents in the US, we will evaluate it.â
Proposed legislation to make public every document held by the American government in relation to Epstein was approved by the House and Senate last month. The US justice department has until 19 December to adhere to this requirement. A vast number of files are expected to be released.
Additionally, a US judge ruled last week that the DOJ could make public investigative materials from a trafficking prosecution against Maxwell, Epsteinâs longtime confidante, who is serving a 20-year jail term over the allegations.
