Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, now holds positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League last season, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I won't manage a different club on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about which situations must arise to bring him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings repeatedly each week or constant media duties a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often a very good mood around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, though he denied the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Coping with it on a personal level is challenging. Unbearable.”
