Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action

Hello, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the first in the capital city.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the coin toss. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?

Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Action

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

Here we go! And we have early drama after the Colts running back catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Score Updates

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.

An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Additional Week 10 Matchups

And for afters, the full slate starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
