Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
